5 benefits of using model imagery in jewellery photography

We all know how important visuals are your brand’s strategy but have you considered the including model shots to showcase your jewellery brand?

Model photography can truly elevate your brand and help you connect with your customers. Alongside the standard product photography, having model shots diversifies your image library and it allows your audience to see the pieces being worn in real life, introducing a human element to your brand.

In today’s blog post I’m going to break down the key benefits of using this type of photography in your brand’s marketing.

1. Adds a lifestyle element to your brand

We can all appreciate a beautiful product photo but seeing something worn on an actual human being makes it a lot more relatable, allowing for your customers to connect to your jewellery business. Having models that align with your brand’s aesthetic and visuals can be a great addition to your standard e-com and product photos. I would always advise to choose models that you can imagine your audience relating and aspiring to and someone who would truly represent your brand and values.

2. Seeing products worn in real life

How often do you wonder how long a necklace chain actually is? Or how big are those hoops you’ve been looking at? We can take a look at the product description but having a visual representation of the piece being worn really helps your audience imagine the product in situ as well as the sizing and the scale of your jewels. It really helps your customer to know exactly what to expect and what the piece might look like on them and it prevents from unsatisfied consumers.

3. Diversifying your image library

Having a library full of diverse content is the best way to keep your audience engaged and interested in your products. Each type of imagery serves a different purpose and to be able to pick and choose from a whole gallery of photos will only propel your business growth. Not only does model photography allow you to showcase the products from different angels and in different situations but it keeps it interesting for your customers and really offers them a full range of visuals before they make their purchase.

4. Increases sales potential & reduces returns

People buy from people and although you are a human behind your brand, it’s important that you also have humans representing your brand in visual form. Whether it’s you modelling the jewellery or you have a professional model, it’s important to remember that we connect with other people and that’s how a lot of the time we make more sales.

Seeing images worn reduces the returns allowing your customers to see what the products would look like worn before they buy them.

5. Sells a certain lifestyle

Are you a sustainable jeweller who hand makes all of the pieces? Or a high end luxury brand that aims for a very boujie lifestyle? Opting for model photography can really help you get your brand across as well as the lifestyle you’re trying to sell.

Aligning your visuals with your brand’s positioning is key to establishing yourself in the jewellery market as well as attracting the right audience. If you’re launching a Bali inspired collection, focus on finding someone who can convey that look. If your pieces are all about minimalism and simplicity, perhaps a model with softer features shot in an airy studio will be your best bet.

I hope you’ve found this blog post useful and you can see why model photography in jewellery shots is so important. Perhaps you can put some time aside to plan your next model shoot and if you need some help, you can book in for a shoot with me.
